Three of our four ewe lambs settled (got pregnant) in 2004. We had two sets of twins and one set of triplets. Usually Finnsheep ewes have singles or twins their first year. Then they have triplets or more each year after that.
Because Finnsheep have litters of lambs, their lambs are usually small at birth. They are mostly head and legs! Nature must have things figured out, because they rarely get tangled up and are born quite easily. Just because they are small, don't assume they are sickly... they are up and nursing within minutes of being born. After about 3 days of mother's milk, they really plump up and gain at the same rate as "big" lambs. With the multiple births and beautiful colors, it is an adventure to see what you will get!
